I first discovered this while I was at work and a few of you have emailed me after experiencing something similar.

My computer at work is a Compaq running Windows XP, and I was using Internet Explorer when I first ran into this problem.

I would log in and then when I went to another page it would show me as not logged in.

At home, on a Dell PC running Windows XP and Internet Explorer and on an Apple Powerbook running Safari and Firefox (two different Internet browsers) I do not run into the problem at all.

I suspect that the issue has something to do with the firewall at work and the identification of cookie sessions.

For those of you who don't want the technical explanation -- if you are using a computer at work and you work for a company that uses a firewall for security purposes then you may have this same problem.

My solution -- I downloaded and installed the Firefox web browser onto my computer at work and the problem is solved. I log in to the site and stay logged in when I am using Firefox.

I am on Spring Break this week and I will do some research on the software I am using for this site to see if there is a work-around for I.E. on Windows behind firewalls.

If you would like to try the Firefox browser to see if it solves the problem for you too -- go to the home page of this site and look in the center of the page for a link to download and install Firefox.
